About the artist

Terri Jones (tArt)
Terri Jones (°1990, N. Wales) creates drawings, paintings, photographs and video pieces. By using popular themes such as feminism, escapism , and popular culture, her work references stereotypes of women, their roles in society, as well as identity and transformation, and the allure of escape in contemporary society/life.
Her photographs are an investigation into representations of women and situations as well as depictions and ideas realized by drawing, painting and photography. By demonstrating the conventional norm she touches various overlapping themes of today’s society, equality and acceptance. Contrasting with an exploration into the fantasy and fabrications created by the digital world, and its ability to escape the prescribed models of self image. Several reoccurring subject matter can be recognized, such as the relation with popular culture and media, working with repetition, humor, and provocation.
Her works demonstrates how life extends beyond its own subjective limits and often tells a story about the effects of social interaction, and how it contrasts between the real and the digital personas we create. It challenges the binaries we continually reconstruct between Self and Other, between our own ‘raw’ and ‘civilized’ selves.
